Buddhism
Culture region
There are at least 500 million Buddhists around the world, mostly concentrated in Asia.
Buddhists believe that Siddhartha Guatama became the Buddha, or "enlightened one." They believe in karma and rebirth and the "dukkha" which is a cycle of suffering and anxiety. The dukkha is expressed in the Four Noble Truths that are 1)The truth of dukkha, 2)The truth of the origin of dukkha, 3)The truth of the cessation of the dukkha, and 4)the truth of the path leading to the cessation of the dukkha. They also believe in the Eightfold Path and the Middle Way, all methods to lead to "nirvana" or enlightenment and release from the cycle of reincarnation.
The main icon of Buddhism is the Buddha, as they do not believe in any gods. Also, their leader is the Dalai Lama.

Diffusion
Buddhism began with the revelations of Siddhartha Guatama who taught about the cycle of reincarnation and karma. It originated in ancient India. Over time, there have been breaks in the following and rejections of some "truths."
Stimulus diffusion occurred in Buddhism. There are Thereveda Buddhists and Mahayana Buddhists who both accept the general teachings of Buddha, but have different ideas of how to reach nirvana. Relocation brought Buddhism out of India and into other Asian countries. Barriers include rejection by Brahmins in the very beginning of Buddhism.
Different fragments of Buddhism include Therevedas and Mahayanas.
